Hydrazide biotin reagent with aminocaproic spacer useful for biotinylation of macromolecule reactive carbonyls.
Under acidic conditions, biotin-X-hydrazide couples selectively to aldehydes, and acid residues oxidized to aldehydes. It is used to prepare biotin-tagged glycoproteins, glycolipids, and antibodies via carboxylic groups cross-linking through carbodiimide chemistry. Hydrazide biotin is a reagent for common use in carbonylation research.
The aminocaproic spacer arm relieves steric hindrance for binding to streptavidin and avidins.
